The other day I got a call from my buddy
Bob. Bob and I go way back. I have been bugging
him for
about the last five months to pay me for
his share of the season tickets we bought
or should I say
I bought for Maryland Football. I should
be at every game this year so expect some
good pic's and commentary.
Anyway he called me this past Monday and
said "do you want some money"??
(The first game is this Saturday) and I was
like well ok.
He also sprung a little surprise on me and
said "I have two extra tickets to the
O's game
Wednesday night do you want them "?
And I was like Duh!! So he showed up at
my office Wednesday mourning and handed me
four tickets.
I was like dude you said you had two tickets
he was like Surprise!!! I had actually talked
my wife
Sally into letting me take James Jr. (Jimmy
the Kid) to the game so I called her and
said,
"We have four tickets why don't we all
go"?? So late that afternoon Sally,
Emily, James,
and I loaded up the van and headed for the
Yard. I had been telling James we were going
to the
baseball game for about a day and boy did
he remember it. When I left for work
Wednesday mourning he said Baseball and cried.
I came home for lunch and he cried again
when I left.
He almost never cries when I leave.
Parking was a breeze and we did not have
to walk too far.
Bob actually had a parking pass two blocks
north of the stadium for us.
Too cool!!! When we went through the gates
and after they scanned our tickets they told
us we didn't need
tickets for the kids and we could have sold
them but now they had been scanned and could
not be sold. Thanks!!
When James saw the field He said "Baseball"
Both he and Emily started to get excited.
I had already started showing off the kids
two when we got out of the Garage when
I saw one of my fans and it continued as
we walked by some of the ushers I knew.
I retired from the O's two years ago but
I started showing pictures of Emily four
years ago and
I still always have pictures of the kids
to show I make an appearance. It was nice
to finally introduce the
kids in person for the first time. We grabbed
our seats around first base and the kids
went down front and the
Oriole Bird walked up to them and they were
very excited but I didn't get a picture because
I was getting food.
Sally had warned me that actually enjoying
the game might be difficult because we had
to watch the kids.
She gave me a three beer limit and my favorite
usher gave mea two beer limit.
I ended up having none as I was to busy keeping
an eye on them.
Emily new the charge routine DA DA DA DA
DA DA Charge!!! She did that well.
It was 9 o'clock the kids were getting a
little out of hand and said "honey are
you ready"??
I had told her earlier that I would leave
when she was ready and I wouldn't fight it.
She knows my
"One more cast mentality" when
I am into something. So we headed out.
As we left the Stadium and walked north
I noticed they had three huge buses blocking
the streets surrounding the park.
I guess this is some sort of new security.
Before we left for the game that day my daughte
r Emily asked I could let her listen to her
music and then I could listen to mine.
This is an ongoing war we are having. My
wife doesn't have a prayer of listening to
her music
when we are in the van and frankly neither
do I except when we are on a long trip and
the kids fall asleep.
Anyway when we got in and turned on the game
Emily asked "is that the game we were
just at"? I said "yes"
and unbelievably she let me listen to it
with no qualms. Unbelievable! She even heard
them do a charge and
she yelled right along in the van. Very
Cool!! Because we left so early in the middle
of the fifth we
got home in time to catch the 8th and 9th
inning. Well both James and Emily were eager
to watch it when I turned it on.
They really seemed interested in the game
and when they the Oriole bird on TV they
got even more excited.
We all celebrated when the Orioles Won and
Emily lead the Cheers "Hip Hip Hurray!!!!
What a blast!! Well the Orioles lose ten
straight, the Man shows up, brings the FAM
and look what happens.
Who is the Man anyway??????
